Introducing...
In this very first issue:
narbotic.com by Colin Mel Cunnigham:
'..Do you have an instrumental you're just dying to have vocalized by your favorite off-key, lo-fi, web songwriter? you do? well, by all means, send it to narbotic. whatever format it's in, i'd love to put words to your music..' Oh my god, he's forcing a quite hypothetic ability. Check out the resulting mp3s and a forthcoming 'Song Fight'.
Explodingdog.com by Sam Brown:
'..Hi my name is sam, i draw pictures, from your titles. send me a title.' And people really do submit, so there are about five new pictures everyday. This sure is a 'Elastic Genius' bookmark. (examples: 'Aj, inte där Sixten...', 'Lets use bad logic and drink motor oil')
-some quick sounds for the impatient:
Cat Power - Friend of mine.mp3 ° LoFi | Kim Wilde - Four letter word.mp3 ° LoFi | God Ate My Homework - Communist party.mp3 ° LoFi (a Mayo Thompson clone ?!)

'The Elastic Genius' is to feature what would not be featured under the influence of bad taste. Furthermore 'The Elastic Genius' doesn't refer to good taste. 'The Elastic Genius' is to defy bourgeoisie of any kind. mostly.

Modern City Dub
The individual behind Pole is Stefan Betke from Berlin. The album "3" should have been launched now in these days. Scape-music (flash alarm) is his label where this modern city dub should be established and developed. Read more on Matador.

Home Karaoke
For some reason I can not tell yet, I have been sitting at home now for hours singing Karaoke songs. VanBasco is a proper software for playing karaoke midifiles. Tons of such midifiles can be found at Kool Karaoke. I have tried all songs of the *Karaoke Special*. I tell you itīs fun but make sure, that nobody can hear you.

Getting worse when they grow older
Most of them really do. David Bowie for example or Lou Reed or The Roling Stones ... only a few are getting better like a good wine. Think of Johnny Cash. But what happens with Metallica? Not only that they have blown their brains out with alcohol and cheap drugs they are also filling their head with lead now. Look and see!

Pirates sharing their loot
Fact is, we're too lazy to work and too spinelessly to steal
Scaring nobility with our penknifes
'Nei giorni dei grandi temporali il cielo era rosso. La pioggia portava con se la polvere dei deserti d'oltre mare.
Solo cantammo per intere giornate, fino a restare senza voce.'

The drummer market place
Thatīs what our guestbook is going to be now. Most interesting people are leaving most interesting websites and are describing themselve modestly. Let me invite all drummers to an overmodest description of themselve and their faculties. Only links to sites with braille (Blindenschrift) accepted.

All The Web's A Stage
Thatīs what a posting of the log My Science Project and a guardian articel are titled. Reading it daily I have already got some interesting news out of this log but it upsets me that a musiclogger can write things like that, sorry: Concerning to musicreleases he is frightened of the webīs democratising power cause itīs supposed to lower the standard which would be guaranteed by the selection of recordcompanies in "the real world". Antipode is true. Recordcompanies are in a way responsible that everything sounds the same that people canīt help but getting the same taste that smaller trials are restricted. The net provides the chance that also experimental and avant-garde bands can present themselves (falsch - an internet only label). Of course mp3.com is shit but let shit be and itīs obviously not shit for many others. The net is not lowering the standard (what is the standard and who is defining it? companies and fanzines?) - companies are preventing a lot.

I don't like Soul Coughing
Somehow and somewhere I bought their 1996 cd 'Irresistable Bliss' ..and.. there are at least two tracks I love. [on EuroRanch Sounds] I mean they say 'Saft' for 'soft', they say 'yeah', yaknowwhatImean. Americaninos.

internal: That was precise, wasn't it ?
FuZo knows a place where we could shuffle our mp3s somewhere over the rainbow and turn into AnguillaRanch...

Forget streaming real or movie musicvideos...
...say it with shockwave. The first musicvideos only done with shockwave I have ever seen are from Beck and The Cure (didnīt know that they are still alive. but donīt worry, they did not develop). Yes, that works and it makes sense, it comes a lot closer to what it could be for the net. Found it at fuzo.

internal: h_h, I can invert text and linkcolors if you think that blue is better for writing. But being upset when I do not click all your links (= words) ...

More and more beards - help!
The next one shocking me with his beard was Will Oldham. I mean what is going on here? Do I have missed any essential trend or what? As long as he is making music like we know it from Palace Brothers (Crying Men Special) he can have his hair growing on his nose if he wants. Also very fine is his last album "Guarpero/Lost Blues II" with a coverversion of the Palace song "O Lord Are You In Need" and other unreleased material. Try a LoFi and have a set of samples on sounds. [review]
