Let the women come over me
*Coughing* ... what I mean is let them, especially the following two vocalists, come over my head and in my ears. One is Julia Kliemann from Komeit, featured on atrecordings.com. Stream it along or take it track by track. Wonderful, distinctive sound based around simple, light instrumentation.

The other one is Sarah White, featured on epitonic.com. A moving voice, made lovely by its flaws, accomplished by pure music arrangement. Boys that goes into it!

The company that loves misery
Checkered Past Records seems to be a home for very fine country and road music (Souled American or the Silos e.g.). Nice thing that you can find lot of information and also mp3s of them. Latest offerings from their artists are provided in a m3u-playlist with either 24kbps or 128kbps. Wow!

Michael Hurley update:
Did not succeed yesterday in providing a cute Michael Hurley playlist but it comes now finally. I know that Netscape is not loading the mp3s into the player. We are trying to fix this problem next week (you can paste the playbutton-link into the player provisionally).

Michael Hurley - Tracks from Wolfways play 32kbps.

Michael Hurley on Tour
A very important and wonderful man of alternative country, Michael Hurley, is on tour in Europe. I'm sorry I could not find any tourprogram but upcoming sunday (1st of october) he is in concert at viennese B72. Hurley is an excellent songwriter and has been covered by Yo la tengo or Cat Power. He is also known for his funny drawings. Audios of "Live in Edinburgh" can be found on snock.com.

No Yodel no Cry
Dissapointed NDX beer festival visitor missed the Cowboy Yodeler of the Year there. I can understand that and will always lend a solacing shoulder to people like him - and an open ear to his yodeling link: 5 country yodelsongs.ram by Cowboy Yodeler of the Year 1996 and 1997.

Reinvigoration of the soundsection
As some people (friends and strangers) asked me about the soundsection and that they did like it, I decided to reinvigorate it. Music already introduced in this log will be stored in the soundsection by and by. I've started with Clinton and Paul Burch. More are to be followed in the next days.

For someone you like a lot - 69 Lovesongs
Bought a CD for my leaving friend Jakob yesterday. 69 Lovesongs by Magnetic Fields. That's Stephin Merritt on vocals, guitar (and a lot more), Claudia Gonson on drums and keyboards, Sam Davol on Cello and John Woo on guitar. '69 Lovesongs' is a triple album and the most beautiful songbook I've heard for the last years. Think it could be a really nice present for someone you like a lot. And as I like you all so much I've arranged a little session for you with about 45 minutes of my favorite tracks.

In my unobtrusive way
I want to announce that I am djing in Viennese Kunsthalle today. Last time is some while ago which was my fault as I did forget it once. Typical EuroRanch music can be expected there (also Ranch-mp3s with Henso's laptop). That means pedagogic valuable but not stringent and stiff and nobody is interested in and listening to, an exciting evening in 3 words.
Feel invited anyhow!

An afternoon in Brno
Tobi, Verena and me, we have been in Brno yesterday at the Grafic Biennale. I liked it very much to see grafic design apart from webdesign again. I've forgot a bit how impressive the combination of materials and design can be and how restrictive a screen. You can find many urls of the exhibitors at Tobi's who has collected them sedulously.

Only snag: This city has so many traps hidden on it's streets so that I was stumbling all the time, which made me look as if I've just learned walking.

Hot Lotion
The cool club comes back to town (Vienna) tonight. No, it's not really a comeback of 'Soft Egg Café' but a new event (called 'Hot Lotion') every second monday in Viennese B72 with Drehli Robnik and Peter Hörmanseder from Mascheks and with liveacts - and that is for little money. Both of them are entertainers who are talking and talking all the while and inbetween they are playing very cool and shaky music. Climax is a livegig, women quota is high, the mood is souly and I am really looking forward to [more on fm4].
