Bodily Functions
Whatever one does think about Matthew Herbert's manifestal statements or his outings, at least the title of his last album is emphasizing them. Under several names Herbert has produced experimental electronics as well as groovy, shaking techno. This album is more jazzy - I have selected the groovy tracks. EuroRanch Wandertag : Pension Midi
 Monochroms Variante einer Ausstellung zur Geschichte der elektronischen Musik im Klangturm St. Pölten wird das Ziel unseres EuroRanch Wandertags sein. Wer bei der Vierteilung einer sounds&files-cdrom dabei sein will, meldet sich bitte mittels email bei mir (wegen Gruppentarife Bahn und Ausstellung), um sich dann am 24.Juni mittags beim 24h Laden im Westbahnhof einzufinden. Von dort wird niemand geringerer als der ehrenwerte Herr Grenzfurthner der Reisebegleiter sein und uns mit dem Wissen des Schöpfers erleuchten. Jede/r Teilnehmer/in erhält kostenlos die revitalisierende museale Schlammpackung und ein Glas Wein zum guten Preis.

 Schöne Kantine aus dem Burgenland
Noch vor kurzem auf Truming, spielt die Beautiful Kantine Band heute Abend im Wiener Chelsea live. Drums, drei Gitarreros, kein Bass, dafür ein Hut.  Projekt : Albinos
Lena Kvadrat ist für die eigenwilligen Kollektionen und Präsentationen des russischen Labels art point verantwortlich. Seit einiger Zeit entwickelt sie sich zunehmend auch zu einem fixen Bestandteil der Wiener Modeszene (die ich ja kenne wie meine Westentasche). Diesmal bittet sie im Hinterzimmer zum - so der russische Titel - weißen Tanz: "Belyj tanec", zu Deutsch "Damenwahl", bezieht sich auf die aktuelle Sommerkollektion, die wie alle Produktionen des Labels einer durchgehenden Thematik gewidmet ist. Diesmal sind es die Albinos, um die sich die schrägen Metaphern drehen. Organisiert wird von doppelpunkt, Musik gibt es natürlich auch und Tobi wird übrigens als Model agieren. Furzbrigade
Da steh ich doch heut gemütlich bei einem frühabendlichen kleinen im Rhiz, als der h_h junior bei einer annähernd 3-stelligen Dezibelattacke fast den Apfelsaft verschüttet. Hinter den Backsteinen betreiben adrette Burschen (mit der entsprechenden Zahl Powerbooks) ihren Soundcheck, daß es einem die Schuhbandl aufschnürt. Einer gibt sich als Marcus Maeder, seines Zeichens Impressario bei domizil.ch, zu erkennen, ein anderer meint, teleform zu heissen. Und wer's heut abend (Mo) nicht mehr ins Rhiz schafft, kann sich bei der nun folgenden playlist die Ohrwaschl ziehen. Domizil - Hörbeispiele

fannie hurst wrote "imitation of life" (1933) a novel describing the lifes of 2 widows (a white and a black) and their daughters. 1934 john stahl made it a movie - 1959 douglas sirk a remake - both focus on the problems of the daughter of the black woman - she is mulatto - and want to pass for white - a lot of information and links also according the rassistic image of the black mammy find here. |

Thank you Mego - part II
Mego about Fennesz' new album "Endless Summer": "Eight songs of sublime texture, solid melodies intertwined over vast valleys of digital sound. 'Endless Summer's geographic location is where analogue and digital worlds meet, however this is no battle or pointless pro/contra argument, but the perfect balance. A balance that many strive for but rarely reach. His most accomplished work to date." Reviews call it a melodic pop album, but I tell you it still requires some listening habits and it's worth acquiring them.
